Marie Putko’s unique background in opera, musical theater, physical theater, dance, piano, and yoga make her a dynamic versatile artist. She a true cross-over artist with an excitement for Golden Age Classics and Contemporary Musical Theater. Accompanied by her dance training, yoga certification, and physical theater training, Marie brings a great awareness and thoughtful approach to her craft.
Most recently Marie returned from a summer at Barrington Stage Company where she had the opportunity to perform in Ragtime under the direction of Joe Calarco, as well as apprenticing with the Musical Theater Conservatory. Her time at Barrington Stage opened Marie’s eyes and heart to the thrill of musical theater and the different colors she could explore with her voice. Prior to her jump into musical theater, Marie had her Off-Broadway debut in Figaro 90210! (Barbara/Chorus swing), and also had the privilege to perform with Brooklyn Philharmonic, NY Lyric Opera, and One World Symphony in NYC. She is an avid lover for sharing opera and musical theater for children and inspiring young artists to seek art as a means of self-expression.
Marie grew up in a military family and has lived and traveled across the world! She received her BA in Vocal Performance from Providence College and her Masters of Music in Opera Studies and Advanced Certificate in Vocal Pedagogy from New York University. She is a certified yoga instructor and likes to use her yoga and meditation training to help artists feel connected and grounded in their body. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
