Clare LathamActor

Clare trained at the Stella Adler Studio through New York University – Tisch School of the Arts (BFA Honors), the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, the Vakhtangov Theatre Institute, and Drama Centre (MA Acting), which led her to remain in the UK for work. During her career in London, Clare has played the lead in several critically-acclaimed UK Premieres, including Rebecca Gilman’s BLUE SURGE (dir. Ché Walker, Finborough Theatre), Tennessee Williams’ GREEN EYES (Defibrillator Theatre), and Aurin Squire’s DON’T SMOKE IN BED (World Premiere, Finborough Theatre). As well as playing otherwise traditionally English roles in English theatre such as Juliet in ROMEO & JULIET, and C in Sarah Kane’s CRAVE, Clare has originated American characters in THE TALENTED MR RIPLEY (The Faction Theatre Co.), BRADLEY/CHELSEA/NAMELESS (Theatre503), THE ONES (Arts Theatre, West End), and INTELLIGENCE (Arcola Theatre). She has worked with a number of brilliant directors there, such as Mark Rylance, Kwame Kwei-Armah, and Ché Walker. Clare has twice been nominated for Off West End Awards (the UK’s equivalent of the Obies) for works by John Patrick Shanley; playing Roberta in DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA (Southwark Playhouse), and most recently for her portrayal of Sister James in the first UK revival of Shanley’s DOUBT, A PARABLE, also at the Southwark. Clare is a Core Ensemble member of The Faction Theatre, a company dedicated to revitalizing classics with modern verve.

Though originally from Atlanta, where she still has a base as well as in London, her family is from Australia, New Zealand and Britain. Clare currently lives and works out of New York.
