Daren Donofrio began his career at Pennsylvania State University where he studied theatre. In his senior year, he traveled to Manhattan every weekend for additional acting classes and auditions. During this time, he booked his first professional role in a film for the US Army. More opportunities followed quickly, requiring him to relocate to the city.
Since his move to New York, Daren has secured lead and supporting roles in several independent films, commercials, and on multiple TV networks. Growing up an avid horror movie fan, he was thrilled to recently play recurring character Billy Joe on “Voodoo Church,” an upcoming Netflix mini-series in 2015.
Daren has a number of other projects debuting this year as well. In “American Genius,” a mini-series for National Geographic Channel, he co-stars as Soviet-Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. He also appears in “Price for Freedom,” a film based on the true story of an Iranian Jew who worked to counter oppression after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The film premieres at the Hoboken International Film Festival and stars Paul Sorvino (“Goodfellas”), Navid Negahban (“Homeland”), and Sally Kirkland (Academy Award nominee).
