Moire Kiyingi hails from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but has lived in New York for many years. She is Ugandan and was born in Vienna, Austria. Her parents worked for the United Nations so she got to meet and learn from many awesome people in the various places she’s lived.
She is a graduate of the MFA Acting program at The New School For Drama, and before that, she graduated from Fordham University with a B.A in Theatre (Performance). She fell in love with acting in eighth grade when she saw her older brother and cousin perform in the The Laramie Project and The Crucible, respectively. Their performances impacted her so much that she became involved in every theatre production she possibly could and has never looked back since. Moire has various theatre credits which include Federico Garcia Lorca’s BLOOD WEDDING (The Bride), Shakespeare’s CYMBELINE (Queen/Iachimo/Belarius/etc.) as well as independent film and internet credits such as SPF (Alice), and CollegeHumor.com’s THE JEGGINGS GANG GETS PRE-TORN JEANS (Tyra).
When Moire isn’t acting, she’s playing guitar or singing and writing new songs. Moire was the frontwoman of a Shoegaze/Dreampop 5-piece band in Brooklyn for over 3 years. Now she is working on a new musical project with someone new and is looking forward to all the new sounds they’re going to create!
