Ta’Nika Gibson is a highly versatile young artist, whose unique soprano voice is equally comfortable with Mozart and Ricky Ian Gordon arias as with Gospel greats and Broadway musical show-stoppers. Her dance skills run the full range of ballet to tap, jazz, and modern and take full advantage of her remarkable athleticism (skiing is her new favorite sport). A natural performer, Ta’Nika has had leading roles in such classics as “Anything Goes,” “Oklahoma,” and “My Fair Lady.”
A student of classical voice and opera for the last four and a half years at NYU and at Eastman School of Music, Ta’Nika has recently decided to pursue a career in musical theater, her first love. She has a depth of understanding of characters and their stories that belies her twenty-three years. An extremely quick study, Ta’Nika masters vocal and dramatic roles with a refreshing approach and enthusiastic flair that is all her own. Her short-term goals are to seek challenging professional experiences and to further develop her command of the musical theater repertoire, and, in the long-term, to excel in a wide range of musical and dramatic genres and roles.
In 2013, Ta’Nika was a regional finalist for the National Classical Singer Competition. That same year she was chosen to perform in a Masterclass with composer Ricky Ian Gordon at Eastman School of Music. In 2011, Ta’Nika performed at the Metropolitan Opera Guild in the world premier of the opera, “2Wice Upon a Birthday.”
