Verdi baritone, Todd Thomas is thrilled to announce that he will be adding the title role of Verdi’s masterpiece, “Simone Boccanegra” to his repertoire. He will be making his return, for a third consecutive season,to the Pacific Opera Victoria to sing as the Doge of Genoa in mid October of 2016. Immediately preceding, he will reprise his portrayal of Alberich in “Das Rheingold” by Richard Wagner. The 2016 calendar continues in Western Canada, as he returns to his beloved, Opera Manitoba, where he will sing his third Verdi role with that company, the inimitable Sir John Falstaff in “Falstaff.”
December 2016 ends with a triple debut for role, composer, and company performing as Gerard in Giordano’s glorious tale of the French Revolution in “Andrea Chenier.” The production, originating and conceived by the Theater Erfurt, will be performed in Antibes, France, for a limited run. Mr. Thomas will return to Theater Erfurt in the summer of 2017 to bow as Count di Luna in Verdi’s crowning achievement of his middle period, “Il Trovatore.”
2017 begins with yet another Verdi masterwork for the wonderful audiences of Pensacola Opera. Thomas’ Amonasro has been heard around the World, including Macedonia in more than 10 various productions of “Aida.”
In February,, he will later return to his native upstate New York roots performing with the Syracuse Opera to play one of his signature roles as the immortal and deformed court jester, “Rigoletto.”
Marking his 6th Verdi role of the 2016-17 season, the spring concludes with an extended performance run with The Florida Grand Opera in Miami and Fort Lauderdale as Renato in “Un Ballo in Maschera.”
