Julia Suriano, born and raised in Hatfield Massachusetts, made the move to The Big Apple to earn her Bachelor of Music Degree from Manhattan School of Music in classical voice performance and hasn’t left since!
A two-time ASCAP award winner for “excellence and promise in musical theater”, Suriano has been praised by critics for her “chillingly beautiful” voice starring as Maria in West Side Story both the Fireside Theatre in Wisconsin and New Hampshire’s Interlakes Theatre. Reviews said, “Her voice is flawless, her acting, too. I doubt anyone could find a more perfect casting.” (Rock River Times) and “The shining light of this production is the incomparable Julia Suriano… Suriano’s portrayal of Maria is not to be missed as she is hands down one of the best vocalists Interlakes Theatre has ever had.” (Onstage.com) Some of her all-time favorite regional roles include: Magnolia in Show Boat, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, and Cosette in Les Miserables!
Suriano has performed in various concerts in the ensemble with The New York Philharmonic at Avery Fisher Hall, as a Soprano soloist at The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, and as a soloist at The Kennedy Center with MSM’s chamber choir. She is thrilled to be playing Dorothy in Kansas City Starlight Theatre’s 80th Anniversary production of The Wizard of Oz this June!
