Valerie RachelleDirector

Valerie Rachelle is a professional Director and Choreographer who has been freelancing for the past 17 years. Valerie was born and raised in Eugene, OR and toured the world with her magical (literally) parents and their professional illusionist show. Ms. Rachelle started as a dancer and was an apprentice Ballerina touring with the Eugene Ballet Company. Along with her professional dancing, Valerie is also a classically trained singer. She attended California Institute of the Arts for her BFA in Acting and moved to LA where she co-founded a not-for-profit theater dedicated to producing new works – Lucid By Proxy. ( Valerie then attended the University of California Irvine for her MFA in Directing.
Upon graduation Valerie spent four years at PCPA Theaterfest where she was Casting Director/Resident Director/Choreographer. She also taught Movement and Audition Skills in their two-year professional acting conservatory. Upon moving back to Los Angeles Ms. Rachelle began teaching in the Theater Department at the University of Southern California, Riverside City College, Glendale Community College, and El Camino College.
Valerie has worked at theaters around the country including: Syracuse Opera, Fresno Grand Opera, Glendale Center Theater, Performance Riverside, Lucid By Proxy, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theater, Utah Shakespearean Festival, Summer Repertory Theater, PCPA Theaterfest and many others. Valerie has been awarded Best Director for the past four years for her productions of Urinetown, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, South Pacific, and Music Man by the Scenie Awards in Los Angeles. Recently, Valerie has acquired the Oregon Cabaret Theatre in Ashland, OR. – She is currently Artistic Director and looking forward to ushering them into their 30th season.
