Born into a family of singers,  Maria Todaro has, since her youngest age, been surrounded by music and arts. A Versatile artist and art entrepreneur, Maria is not only  a stage director, but also a stunt artist, writer, conductor, trains new generations of singers and serves as general director of The Phoenicia International Festival of Voice after being one of its founder in 2010. 
 Maria Todaro made her US debut in 2015  as a stage director and directed “Cavalleria Rusticana” for the Westfield Symphony Orchestra under the baton of British maestro David Wroe, and was invited again to direct “La Boheme” March 2017. last season, she has assisted Bernard Uzan with his “ Cyrano de Bergerac” in May 2017 at the Michigan Opera Theater in Detroit where she already assisted Ron Daniels in his production of “Carmen” last October, she was also the fight choreographer of that same production. In January 2017, she has directed “ Don Giovanni” in South Dakota, with the SD Symphony Orchestra,  “La Boheme”  in March with NJFO and in August 2017 another “ La Boheme “ with a prestigious cast of the Metropolitan Opera (John Osborn, Lucas Meachem, Richard Bernstein, Mireille Asselin..) at FofV, she just stage directed “ Carmen” in August 2018 with Ginger Costa-Jackson in the title Role. She successfully directed ” Madama Butterfly” in March 2018, with NJFO and will collaborate with Jeffrey Buchman on a production of ” Cendrillon” by Massenet in Miami April 2018. in 2019 NJFO will welcome her back for Tosca.

Her projects include the creation of the opera ” Les Trois Mousquetaires“ inspired by Alexandre Dumas’s novel , she is the librettist and the music is by composer Mitchell Bach, descendant of  J.S . Bach Maria Todaro is one of the co-founders of The Phoenicia  International Festival of The Voice, FofV, which was created August 2010 upstate New York in the Hamlet of Phoenicia, in the beautiful Catskills mountains.
