Jack Herholdt is a New York based Actor and Playwright. He has had the privilege of playing a variety of different types of characters on stage in plays ranging from classic text (Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde and Charles Dickens) to broad comic styles (Abe Burrows and Charles Busch) and experimental theatrical experiences. In recent years, Jack has appeared Off Broadway in Truman Capote’s A Christmas Memory at the Cherry Lane Theatre, A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Masterworks Theatre Company (PRTT) and the Drama Desk Award Winning That Physics Show.
As a Playwright, his credits include adaptations of Euripides with Bacchae Redux, and the Brother’s Grimm with Little Stories. Jack, along with his partner Michael Heitzler produced Hour by Hour: Susan Glaspell, a twelve hour retrospective on the life and works of America’s first female playwright; Susan Glaspell, offering the New York premieres of several of her plays. As a solo artist, Jack has appeared in several incarnations of his cabaret show Falling in Love and Other Ridiculous Ideas as well as the MAC award winning revue A Tribute to The Divine Ms. ‘M’.
Jack has performed across the country in venues from regional performing arts centers to asphalt parking lots. Favorite credits include The Fool in King Lear opposite Austin Pendleton, Dromio of Syracuse in The Comedy of Errors, John Worthing in The Importance of Being Earnest, Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol, Captain Hook in Peter Pan and ten characters in Greater Tuna. He excels in honest portrayals of comic characters as well as both classical and modern language driven plays.
